General Funk Forward:

Transition from the military to civilian life is hard. I know as I served over 40 years both in the National Guard and on active duty. Recently, I too transitioned from active to retired. This self-guided brilliant book leads you to understanding your value, finding purpose, reconciling your wants and needs. All of those objectives matter. These two superb leaders provide us the VALOR system as a roadmap to success personalized by you. Most importantly, you can trust that this system works.

As I culminated my career in the US Army, I served as the Training and Doctrine Commander (TRADOC) where I was ultimately responsible for the recruiting, training, education, and transition of over 800,000 Soldiers a year. I commanded in combat 6 times and spent the bulk of my career with combat units with our nation's warriors. My culminating wartime effort was the three-star in charge of the war in Iraq and Syria.
